A recent San Antonio Express-News article depicted a very revealing snapshot of household income dynamics in the San Antonio area. In addition to ranking worst amongst the top 25 metro area in 2013 median earnings, San Antonio residents have substantial credit card debt in comparison to their income— also the worst of the top 25 areas detailed in the report.
There’s no doubt this should be of concern to many local merchants and retailers should the economy contract at all. The inevitable outcome is less disposable income available to purchase goods & services.
